New bridge for the convenience of Kryvyi Rih residents: work on the construction of a bridge in Gagarin Park is completed by 50%

After Mershavtsev park (former Pravda Park) was completely reconstructed and received a second life, so the renovated Gagarin park with his "space" characters became one of the favourite places of rest of children, and a lot of city people asked to make the path from one park to another shorter. For the convenience of residents, in 2019 the construction of a new bridge was started.

At a working meeting on the construction of a pedestrian bridge, Mayor Yurii Vilkul stressed that he was categorically dissatisfied with the pace of work. He gave the task of providing him with an updated construction schedule with the completion of them by the end of July.

To date, the builders have installed foundation supports, girders and pylons. Work is underway on the installation of cables and ramps. The length of the new pedestrian bridge is 65.1 m, the width of the aisle is 3 m. The structure is a span structure with 3 supports, a pylon and rope cables. On the approaches to the bridge, on both sides of the Saksahan River, sidewalks 3 m wide will be installed illuminated by 20 lamps.

Mayor Yurii Vilkul noted: “The works need to be accelerated. However, this should not affect the quality. There are some delays in the schedule, which the contractor must correct as soon as possible.”

Thanks to the new construction, residents and guests of the city will be able to walk to the Yuri Gagarin park from St. Nicholas Street and reduce the time previously spent on bypassing the pedestrian bridge across the river.
